For over three decades EPOS has supervised a wide range of ever more complex and technically demanding underground works.

 

EPOS is constantly concerned over the safety and overall quality of its works and has maintained an active role in developing new techniques and solutions with the aim of improving performance in these two sensitive areas.

 

EPOS is today recognised for the premium standard of its works, reflected in the high technology of its means of production, not only human but also the equipments and construction techniques that are implemented.

 

The innovative “Systunnel”, a complete tunnel monitoring system developed in partnership with FiberSensing and the Geotechnical Centre of Lisbon’s Instituto Superior Técnico, is a perfect example of EPOS innovation. This system allows for the measuring of deformations, convergences and temperature, in different structural sections, resorting exclusively to fibre optic sensors. The Systunnel system has been up and running in the Rossio tunnel since 2008 and has performed to very high levels and proven to be extremely trustworthy.
