03 03 SUMMARY OF ACTIVITIES SÍNTESE DA ATIVIDADE Apesar de confrontada com a conjuntura adversa antes descrita, a Empresa conseguiu, em 2014, alcançar um Volume de Vendas de cerca de 72 milhões de euros, valor ligeiramente superior à expetativa apontada no relatório do exercício anterior. 27 Although it was faced with the adverse situation described above, the Company succeeded, in 2014, in reaching a Sales Volume of approximately EUR 72 million, slightly higher than the figure forecasted in the previous year’s report. 03.1 03.1 Industrial Activity Atividade Industrial A atividade industrial desenvolvida em Portugal reduziu-se para 56% do total das vendas, tendo a parcela restante sido obtida nos quatro mercados externos onde a Empresa atua; este valor, quando comparado com o registado no ano anterior, revela que a aposta da EPOS na diversificação geográfica, face à contração experimentada no mercado nacional, veio a confirmar-se acertada. Em Portugal, onde a atuação se divide entre trabalhos realizados no âmbito da atividade para diversas entidades mineiras e obras de engenharia civil, verificou-se um acréscimo nesta última atividade, em detrimento da primeira que sofreu uma redução como consequência da persistente desvalorização das matérias-primas no mercado internacional. The industrial activity carried out in Portugal declined to 56% of total sales, while the remaining portion was obtained in the four foreign markets where the company operates. This value, when compared with the corresponding result from the previous year, reveals that EPOS’ investment in geographic diversification, in view of the downturn experienced in the domestic market, proved to be the right move. In Portugal, where EPOS’ operations are divided into works carried out for several mining companies and civil engineering works, the latter activity increased while the former declined as a result of the persistent devaluation of raw materials in the international market.
